Progress on Bompaso Community Solar Project

Blocks making starts at Bompaso towards the building of a new community center

PACE Ghana is working with the people in the village of Bompaso, which is just outside of Worawora in eastern Ghana, and Twende Solar (https://twendesolar.org/) to bring a power to this community that currently has no access to electricity. As part of discussions with people in Bompaso they have expressed an interest in also building a community center where the solar panels would be installed. The community center would serve multiple functions including a meeting place, a small library with study space for students and a room for a health clinic and place to store medicines that require refrigeration. Initial plans have been sketched out and discussed with people in Bompaso and they are very excited. Early in 2022 they suggested that they should get started making bricks for the community center since this was the best time of year for that activity. We agreed and materials were purchased and the community jumped into action. Many people from the community volunteered and in just a few weeks the they made 3,750 blocks that will be an essential part of the community center.

This is a big step forward for this project. Now we need to finalize the design for the community center and build the center. We are also working to finalize the solar installation design and raise the funds to install this system. If you are interested in supporting this effort as we move forward with the people of Bompaso and Twende Solar please visit our website (www.paceghana.org) or contact us at pghanainfo@gmail.com.
